5 Kapamilya teleseryes show us why it’s better to forgive and forget

In our relationships with partners and loved ones, hurting and getting hurt are inevitable. But in order to move on to the next chapter of our lives, they say, we must learn to forgive those who have wronged us and give them a second chance.  The value of forgiveness is highlighted in some of our favorite Kapamilya teleseryes, which feature conflicts and rivalries that end in reconciliations.

It’s better to let go of a grudge than get revenge, and these Kapamilya teleserye characters show us why:

  1. Agatha and her twin sisters and family (“The Blood Sisters”)

It was clear from the start that among the triplets played by Erich Gonzales in “The Blood Sisters,” Agatha was going to be the black sheep and the rebellious one. She joined a syndicate that threatened to kill her whole family and even served as an accomplice when Rocco (Jake Cuenca) fatally shot her twin Carrie. In the final week of the series, Agatha apologized for everything she did and even expressed her intention to sacrifice her life so they can save their mother, Adele (Cherry Pie Picache), from their enemies. Erika and Carrie, ultimately forgave their sister and encouraged her to make it up to them and change for the better.

  1. Cardo and Alyana (“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano”)

Cardo (Coco Martin) is known for his dedication to helping people and serving the country. However, his passion was also the reason his marriage with Alyana (Yassi Pressman) crumbled to pieces. After Alyana gave up on their marriage, Cardo pursued her tirelessly. All it took for Alyana to forgive Cardo was a life-changing moment when she realized she could not live without her husband. After Alyana apologized to Cardo for treating him unfairly, she said she was ready to give their love another chance, “Gusto kong magsimula tayo ulit.

  1. Samantha and Ana (“Asintado”)

Samantha (Shaina Magdayao) treated Ana (Julia Montes) as her mortal nemesis as she competed for Gael (Paulo Avelino)’s love. But when she learned that her archrival was her long lost sister, she slowly learned to leave their past behind. She also asked for forgiveness from Ana for not keeping her promise to their parents to protect her and letting her heart be consumed with resentment. Samantha ultimately let go of her bitterness and even attended Ana and Gael’s wedding without making a scene, despite being extremely upset.

  1. Matadora and Marikit and the rest of Sansinukob (“Bagani”)

After a near-death experience, Matadora (Aiko Melendez) realized the error of her ways and sought forgiveness from her sister Marikit (Charlie Dizon) for using her in her anger, and from Dilag (Lara Quigaman) and Ganda (Liza Soberano) for wreaking havoc in Sansinukob while under the power of Sarimaw. Matadora expressed great remorse for what she did and was welcomed back to her home in the farming region.

  1. Espie and Vincent (“Wansapanataym Presents: Ikaw ang GHOSTo Ko”)

Fortuneteller Espie (Maymay Entrata) experienced a painful heartbreak after her childhood love Vincent (Edward Barber) toyed with her feelings. Fast forward to the present: The two reunite and Vincent is a troubled ghost who asks for Espie’s help so he can come back to life and help his mother find the answers about his sudden, mysterious death. At first, Espie had a hard time accepting his former love’s apology, but her willingness to put her abilities to good use helped her forgive Vincent.

Some of the country’s brightest stars today started their journey to stardom with a simple audition – all it took was a confidence, a spark of hope, and a little dream.

Filipino dreamers get their place in the spotlight and share their stories on ABS-CBN’s grand audition show “Star Hunt,” which premieres on Monday (August 20) on Kapamilya Gold.

The show will heavily feature the stories and talents of promising Star Dreamers or auditionees who came to ABS-CBN’s “Star Hunt” auditions in 13 locations in and out of the country.

They will be introduced to viewers by the show’s hosts Kim Chiu, Alex Gonzaga, Robi Domingo, and Melai Cantiveros – stars who were once dreamers and showcased their authenticity on “Pinoy Big Brother.”

But more than highlighting the Star Dreamers’ life stories and aspirations, the show will follow their journey to achieving their dreams and improving their skills.

So far, many successful Star Dreamers have become or may become a part of “I Can See Your Voice,” “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” “Dance Kids,” “Pilipinas Got Talent,” “MMK,” “Pinoy Big Brother” and the soon-to-be-launched dance competition “World of Dance Philippines.”

“Star Hunt” will also give opportunities to the Star Dreamers to appear in or join ABS-CBN’s different platforms, whether it is on television, radio, online, movies, or music.

Which of the Star Dreamers will become a housemate in the newest season of “Pinoy Big Brother”? How are Piolo Pascual and Coco Martin help some of the Star Dreamers achieve their dream?

“We’re very excited to be once more giving our Kapamilyas the famed ‘Meteor Fever’ that once swept the nation, thanks to this much-anticipated remake. We are sure it will elicit the same type of ‘kilig’ Filipinos felt when they made it a part of their viewing habits more than a decade ago,” said ABS-CBN Acquisitions head Macie Imperial.

In 2003, the Philippines fell madly in love with the original series that starred the famed, and what became to others as the original F4 composed of Jerry Yan, Vaness Wu, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu, and female lead Barbie Xu. Fans can catch them again on iWant TV as it brings back the remastered original Taiwan version starting September 1.

“Sissums” by Alex and Toni Gonzaga

Gonzaga sisters reveal rules for strong sisterhood

Celebrity siblings Alex and Toni Gonzaga divulge the many roles they have played in each other’s lives in “Sissums: the 18 Rules of Sisterhood,” a new book under ABS-CBN Publishing where they revealed how Toni became a role model, a critic, and even a bully to Alex, while the latter became Toni’s lawyer, cheerleader, and more when they were growing up.

“We’ve realized we have different roles in each other’s phases in life, and we share them in this book. Whether positive or negative, these are the roles that helped us grow individually and as sisters.” explained the “Sissums” co-authors who were at first surprised that many tagged them as #sistergoals.

Alex wrote how Toni became her “Inang Yaya” who took care of her when their parents were very busy at work. Toni likewise became a role model, a critic, and even a bully to her younger sister who triggered Alex’s amusing attempt to run away from home when she was just five years old.

Meanwhile, Toni disclosed how Alex became her lawyer, PR manager, cheerleader, and travel companion, while both of them considered each other as partner in crime growing up. Now, Alex also serves as the best TiNang or aunt-godmother to Toni’s son, Seve.

Also in the “Sissums” book, the pair shared different set of rules they live by at home, at work, and at play. Among these rules are that sisters should be roommates by default and that they should respect each other’s differences and remain loyal at all times. They also stressed the importance of veering away from comparison and envy.

The book likewise contains exclusive photos and quirky comics, illustrating funny and relatable situations they have been in. Quizzes and a mini-scrapbook are also ideal to bond over with siblings.

“Sissums” is Toni’s first venture into publishing while it is Alex’s third book project, after her best-selling books “Dear Alex, Break na kami. Paano? Love, Catherine” and “Dear Alex, We’re Dating. Tama ba o Mali? Love, Catherine.”

Find out the secrets to Toni and Alex’s strong sisterhood in “Sissums” book, available for only P225 in leading bookstores nationwide. For updates, follow @abscbnpr on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram or visit www.abscbnpr.com.

Paano? Love, Catherine” at “Dear Alex, We’re Dating. Tama ba o Mali? Love, Catherine.”
