Himig Handog 2018 announces top 10 songs and this year’s interpreters

Which love song will win the hearts of Pinoys?

Ten songs have finally been chosen from over 5,000 entries sent by Filipinos from all over the Philippines and abroad, now hailed as the Himig Handog 2018 finalists vying to become this year’s Best Song from the country’s biggest and much-awaited songwriting competition.

These original compositions will be interpreted by some of today’s hottest and rising music performers in the tradition of Himig Handog, with this year’s theme “Love Songs and Love Stories.”

Dalawang Pag-ibig Niya interpreters Sheena Belarmino, Krystal Brimmer, and MNL48

“Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids” season 2 contestants Krystal Brimner and Sheena Belarmino, together with the all-female idol group MNL 48, will perform “Dalawang Pag-ibig Niya” by Bernard Reforsado of Albay.

Hati Na Lang Tayo Sa Kanya songwriter Joseph Santiago

“TNT” singer Eumee will interpret “Hati Na Lang Tayo Sa Kanya” by Joseph Santiago of Quezon City.

R&B royalty Kyla returns for the fourth time as Himig Handog interpreter and will be joined by upcoming rapper Kritiko to sing “Kababata” by John Michael Edixon of Parañaque City.

“Mas Mabuti Pa,” composed by Mhonver Lopez and Joanna Concepcion of Laguna, will be interpreted by this year’s “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” grand champion Janine Berdin.

BoybandPH, meanwhile, will perform “Para Sa Tabi,”  a composition sent by Robert William Pereña all the way from Dubai in the Middle East.

“Araw Gabi” lead actor JM de Guzman will sing the composition of Davao’s pride Kyle Raphael Borbon entitled “Sa Mga Bituin Na Lang Ibubulong.”

“Sugarol,” composed by Jan Sabili of Muntinlupa City, will be performed by Star Pop artist Maris Racal.

Jona also returns to Himig Handog as interpreter for the third consecutive year, this time for the entry “Tinatapos Ko Na” composed by Sarah Jane Gandia from USA.

“Wakasan” by Philip Arvin Jarilla of Antipolo will be performed by OPM band Agsunta, while “Wala Kang Alam,” written by Martin John Arellano of Manila and Mel Magno of Pampanga, will be interpreted by Sam Mangubat.

Catch the Himig Handog performances on ASAP starting this Sunday (October 7). The winners will be announced on November 25.

Himig Handog 2018 will be awarding P1 million to the grand prize winner, while P500,000 will be brought home by the 2nd Best Song. The composers of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Best Songs will receive P200,000, P150,000, and P100,000, respectively.

Now on its 9th year, the ABS-CBN and Star Music project continues to discover Filipino talents and champion OPM in its search for compositions that will make its mark in the local music scene.

Last year, Libertine Amistoso’s “Titibo-Tibo,” interpreted by Moira dela Torre, earned the Himig Handog 2017 Best Song and won the hearts of many listeners.

Aling awit ng pag-ibig kaya ang magwawagi? 

HIMIG HANDOG, IPINAKILALA NA ANG TOP 10 SONGS AT NAPILING INTERPRETERS NGAYONG 2018

 

Napili na ang sampung awitin mula sa mahigit 5,000 entries na nagmula sa mga Pinoy sa iba’t ibang rehiyon sa Pilipinas pati na rin sa ibang bansa bilang Himig Handog 2018 finalists na maglalaban-laban para itanghal na Best Song sa pinakamalaking songwriting competition

Kakantahin ang mga orihinal na komposisyon na ito ng ilan sa mga magagaling na musical performers sa tradisyon ng Himig Handog, na ngayon ay may temang “Love Songs and Love Stories.”

Ang “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids” season 2 contestants na sina Krystal Brimner at Sheena Belarmino, kasama ang female idol group na MNL 48, ang aawit ng “Dalawang Pag-ibig Niya” mula sa isinulat ni Bernard Reforsado ng Albay.

Ang “TNT” singer naman na si Eumee ang kakanta ng “Hati Na Lang Tayo Sa Kanya” ni Joseph Santiago ng Quezon City.

Nagbabalik naman ang R&B royalty na si Kyla sa ika-apat na pagkakataon bilang Himig Handog interpreter at sasamahan siya ng rapper na si Kritiko para sa awiting “Kababata” ni John Michael Edixon ng Parañaque City.

Ang “Mas Mabuti Pa” mula sa komposisyon nina Mhonver Lopez at Joanna Concepcion ng Laguna ay bibigyang buhay ng “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” grand champion na si Janine Berdin.

Samantala, pangungunahan ng “Araw Gabi” lead actor na si JM de Guzman ang awitin ng Davao pride na si Kyle Raphael Borbon na may titulong “Sa Mga Bituin Na Lang Ibubulong.”

Ang Star Pop artist na si Maris Racal ang magpeperform ng “Sugarol” na isinulat naman ni Jan Sabili ng Muntinlupa City.

Nagbabalik rin si Jona para sa ikatlong taong sunod-sunod na pagsali bilang Himig Handog interpreter, ngayon para sa awiting “Tinatapos Ko Na,” isang komposisyon ni Sarah Jane Gandia ng USA.

Ang OPM band na Agsunta ang magbibigay interpretasyon sa “Wakasan” ni Philip Arvin Jarilla ng Antipolo, habang si Sam Mangubat naman ang aawit ng “Wala Kang Alam” na binuo nina Martin John Arellano ng Manila at Mel Magno ng Pampanga.

Panoorin ang mga ka-abang-abang na Himig Handog performances sa ASAP simula Linggo (Oktubre 7). Ang mananalo ay ihahayag sa Nobyembre 25.

Tatanggap ng P1 million ang grand prize winner, habang P500,000 naman ang makukuha ng sumulat ng 2nd Best Song. Ang mga composers na tatanghaling 3rd place ay tatanggap ng P200,000, ang 4th place ng halagang P150,000 at ang 5th place ng halagang P100,000.

Nasa ika-siyam na taon na ang Himig Handog na handog ng ABS-CBN at Star Music. Nagsimula ito noong 2000 hanggang 2003 at ibinalik muli pagkatapos ng isang dekada. Patuloy ito sa pagdidiskubre ng local talents at pagsuporta sa OPM sa pagkakalap nito ng mga bagong awiting may tatak Pinoy.

Ang kantang “Titibo-Tibo” mula kay Libertine Amistoso at inawit ni Moira dela Torre ang itinanghal na Himig Handog 2017 Best Song na siya ring nakapukaw sa damdamin ng mga Pinoy.
