As we approach the Century of Philippine Cinema celebrations, the digitally restored and remastered version of the classic “Ganito Kami Noon…Paano Kayo Ngayon” about the transformation of a naïve country boy as he travels to Manila, can be seen again this Sunday (September 2) on ABS-CBN’s “Sunday’s Best.”

The movie stars a 20-year old Christopher De Leon as Kulas, a naïve man from the province who embarks on a journey to Manila. He meets different people who will change his life throughout his travels. In the end he comes to know who the Filipino really is. 42 years later, the message of the story remains relevant and timely.

It was an entry at the 1976 Metro Manila Film Festival where it won Best Film, Best Director for National Artist for Cinema Eddie Guerrero, Best Actor for Christopher De Leon, Best Art Direction, Best Screenplay, and Best Music. It also took home multiple awards from Gawad Urian and FAMAS. The movie was also the official entry of the Philippines for the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Oscars.

To date, ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project has already restored over 160 films, some of which were already screened internationally via film fests, screened locally via red carpet premieres, aired on free-to-air and cable television, viewed via pay-per-view and video-on-demand, distributed on DVD, and downloadable even on iTunes.
