ABS-CBN becomes the first free-to-air channel to broadcast in HD as it launches ABS-CBN HD, a channel where viewers can watch their favorite Kapamilya shows in high definition, which comes exclusively with SKY Cable HD Digibox for Sky Cable and Destiny subscribers.
“Kapamilya viewers will feel the emotions and tension that their favorite characters are experiencing in the stories we tell through our shows, as every little detail is more pronounced in HD. We target to progressively launch all our programs on ABS-CBN in HD by 2016,” said ABS-CBN Broadcast and Free TV head Cory Vidanes said.
Kapamilya viewers in Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, and San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan can finally watch their ABS-CBN programs in high definition format (HD) on Channel 167, while solid Kapamilya fans in Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo, and Baguio will enjoy a better viewing experience of ABS-CBN TV shows on Channel 700.
“On its 25th anniversary, Sky is honored to exclusively bring to our subscribers’ homes ABS-CBN HD, providing a superior viewing experience of their most loved teleseryes and programs,” said Ray Montinola, Chief Operating Officer of SkyCable.

Kapamilya shows that are already airing in HD are “It’s Showtime!,” “Ningning,” “Doble Kara,” “All of Me,” “Nasaan ka Nang Kailangan Kita,” “Pasion De Amor,” “On The Wings of Love,” “ASAP20,” “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “Wansapanataym,” “Pangako Sa’Yo,” “Mukha,” and the widely-successful “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” Soon to broadcast in HD are “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
The broadcast of the first free-to-air channel to air 24/7 on HD started last October 3 during the “Kapamilya Thank You!” tour of “It’s Showtime!” and “ASAP20” in Binan, Laguna.

Patuloy na binabago ng ABS-CBN ang industriya ng broadcasting para sa mga Kapamilya sa pamamagitan ng paglunsad ng ABS-CBN HD, isang channel kung saan mapapanood ng mga fans ang kanilang paboritong palabas sa high definition, na ekslusibo kasama ng SkyCable HD digibox para sa mga Sky Cable at Destiny subscribers.
ABS-CBN ang pinakaunang free-to-air channel na magbo-broadcast ng high definition araw-araw.
“Mas madadama na ng ating mga Kapamilya ang bawat emosyon, tensyon, bawat patak ng luha sa mga kwento na aming ihahatid. Mas may detalye, mas may brilyo, ika nga, ang HD broadcast,” sabi ni ABS-CBN Broadcast at Free TV head na si Cory Vidanes patungkol sa pag-ere ng ABS-CBN HD.
“Sa aming ika-25 na anibersaryo, kinararangal naming sa Sky na dalin sa kabahayan ng aming mga subscriber and ABS-CBN HD, na magbibigay ng mas magandang viewing experience sa mga paborito nilang programa at teleserye,” sabi Ray Montinola, ang Chief Operating Officer ng SkyCable, isang subsidiary ng ABS-CBN.
Ang subscribers na taga Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, at San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan ay mae-enjoy ang kanilang paboritong Kapamilya shows in HD sa Channel 167, habang ang subscribers naman na mula Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo, at Baguio ay mapapanood na ng mas malinaw ang ABS-CBN sa Channel 700.
“Parte ito ng patuloy na digitalization ng ABS-CBN. Dahil dito, mas malawak pa ang aming maaabot at sa kahit anong plataporma pa pwede mapanood ang aming mga palabas kahit san pa man sila sa Pilipinas o sa ibang bansa pa,” sabi ni Mark Lopez, ang Chief Technology Officer ng Kapamilya network.
Ang mga palabas na umeere na sa HD ay ang “It’s Showtime!,” “Ningning,” “Doble Kara,” “All of Me,” “Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita,” “Pasion De Amor,” “On The Wings of Love,” “ASAP20,” “Wansapanataym,” “Maalala Mo Kaya,” “Mukha,”at ang sikat na sikat na “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.”
Kasalukyang inaayos pa ang pag-broadcast sa HD ng “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” at “Gandang Gabi Vice.”
Ang broadcast ng first 24/7 free-to-air channel sa HD ay nagsimula na noong nakaraang October 3 sa kasagsagan ng “Kapamilya Thank You! Biyaheng Binan” ng “It’s Showtime!” at “ASAP20” sa Binan, Laguna.
